Transitioning to Meisner Technique

In the early ’90s, I moved to LA to elevate my craft. Many brilliant acting friends kept raving about a studio teaching the Meisner Technique, so I decided to audition. Fortunately, I got in!

I spent the next six months training with an incredible group of actors—some well-known at the time. We learned this powerful, instinctive method. One of the very first exercises you’re thrown into? Repetition.

We dedicated six weeks straight, five days a week, just focusing on repetition. Sounds simple, right?

It’s not. But when you get out of your own way, you drop in.

That moment—when your instincts take over, and everything else disappears—is what every actor chases.
