What outcomes does Lights On deliver?
Lights On is a centre-based community arts program designed for people with disability, including people with autism or intellectual disability.
While the program focuses on on-camera skills and creative industry exposure, Lights On is not:
-
a registered training organisation (RTO)
-
a formal education program
-
a vocational qualification
Instead, Lights On delivers outcomes aligned with NDIS framework priorities, including:
-
Capacity-building skills
Confidence, communication, collaboration, creative expression and self-advocacy. -
Community participation
Social connection, group activities and inclusive creative environments. -
Employment readiness
Industry exposure, professional skills development and portfolio creation.
How does claiming work?
Lights On is not an NDIS-registered provider, which means we can only support participants who are:
-
Plan-managed, or
-
Self-managed
We are unable to support NDIA-managed participants at this time.
What we provide
-
Detailed invoices outlining session dates, hours and relevant NDIS line item codes
-
Program documentation explaining how Lights On aligns with NDIS goals
-
Direct communication with your plan manager or support coordinator, if required
Common questions about NDIS support
“Will my plan manager approve this?”
Approval depends on your individual NDIS goals and how Lights On supports those goals. We recommend discussing the program with your plan manager or support coordinator before enrolling. We are happy to provide additional information to assist with this process.
“What if my LAC or plan manager says no?”
Some participants experience challenges if Lights On is incorrectly classified as school education, higher education or vocational training. Lights On is none of these.
Lights On is a community arts and capacity-building program focused on participation, skills development and confidence — not formal education or qualifications.
If required, we can provide further documentation to clarify this.
“Can I use my Core or Capacity Building budget?”
Most participants use Capacity Building (Social, Community and Civic Participation) funding. Some participants may use Core (Social and Community Participation) funding, depending on how their plan is structured. Your plan manager or support coordinator can advise which budget category applies to you.
