In the early ’90s, I moved to LA and decided it was time to take things up a notch. A bunch of my brilliant acting mates kept raving about this studio teaching the Meisner Technique, so I auditioned. Lucky for me, I got in.

I spent the next six months training with an incredible group of actors (some very well-known at the time) and learning this powerful, instinctive method. One of the very first exercises you’re thrown into? Repetition.

We spent six weeks straight, five days a week, just doing repetition. Sounds simple, right?

It’s not. But once you get out of your own way… you drop in.

That moment—when your instincts take over, and everything else disappears—is what every actor chases.
