This past weekend, Brisbane became the beating heart of Australian acting when world-renowned director and acting coach Michelle Danner led an exclusive On Camera Workshop and her celebrated Golden Box Masterclass with Brock Casting Services at the Australian Performing Arts Conservatory (APAC).
The response was nothing short of extraordinary. Students travelled from across the country — one flying in from Western Australia, others catching the train from Sydney, and many driving up from NSW — all determined to seize the rare opportunity to learn directly from one of Hollywood’s most sought-after acting coaches.
And the energy in the room reflected that commitment.
Why Michelle Danner?

Michelle Danner is not only a Hollywood director but also one of the most respected acting coaches in the world. She has worked with A-list talent including Penélope Cruz, Gerald Butler, Chris Rock, and James Franco.
Her unique teaching style blends classical techniques with modern industry insights, empowering actors to break free of limitations and unlock their most authentic performances.
Her Golden Box Method — which she shared in Brisbane — is an immersive acting system that equips actors with a practical set of tools to draw upon for every role. From building emotional range to mastering on-camera presence, Danner’s method gives actors the confidence to deliver at the highest level.
A Weekend of Breakthroughs!
The weekend was packed with transformative moments. From the intensity of on-camera exercises to the deep dives into character work, students described the experience as nothing short of life-changing.
For many, it was their first time training with an international coach of this caliber, and the excitement was palpable. The APAC | BROCK CASTING studio was filled with laughter, raw vulnerability, powerful performances, a lot of nerves — and a sense of community that transcended geography.
What stood out most was the commitment of every participant. These actors weren’t just attending another workshop — they were seizing the moment, soaking up every insight Michelle shared, and walking away with practical tools to elevate their craft and careers.

Building Brisbane’s Creative Legacy
Hosting Michelle Danner in Brisbane reflects a growing movement: actors shouldn’t have to leave Queensland to train with the best. The event was a powerful reminder that world-class opportunities can (and should) happen right here.
As one participant shared, “It felt like Hollywood came to us — and it reminded me why I chose this path in the first place.”

My last thoughts:
The On Camera Workshop and Golden Box with Michelle Danner was more than a training weekend — it was a career-defining experience for everyone who walked through BROCK CASTING | APAC’s doors.
From interstate travellers to local Brisbane talent, each actor left with new skills, deeper confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose in their craft. They also found their tribe!
For me, this is personal. This is my legacy — my reason for bringing Michelle to Brisbane. My love for QUEENSLAND, for our actors and creatives, drives everything I do.
I believe Queensland talent deserves to stand on the global stage without having to leave home, and weekends like this prove that it’s possible.
Hollywood came to Brisbane — and the ripple effects will be felt for years to come.
